Abigail is approximately 12 years old and, like many of our senior residents, requires ongoing medical care as she ages.

Help Abigail Stay on Her Feet 💛

Recently, Abigail developed a new problem: she has begun losing mobility in her hind legs.

She is having difficulty getting traction underneath herself, making it harder for her to stand and move around. She has already been seen by the veterinarian and is on medication, but right now, one of the most helpful things we can provide is a properly sized rear-leg support brace to give her additional stability when standing and moving.

We hope that this will help her exercise those little legs of hair, as we monitor as Abigail is a senior and already lives with a heart murmur, additional support and veterinary evaluations can help us better understand what is happening and determine what additional care may be appropriate.

Depending on her veterinarian's recommendations, this may include bloodwork, X-rays, scans or other diagnostic testing.

Abigail's Story 💕

Abigail arrived at Moose Lodge in May 2024 from Knox Vintage Pet Rescue in Knoxville, Tennessee. She came to us with some of the realities that often accompany caring for an older dog. Abigail has a heart murmur and a large benign fatty tumor on her underbelly, both of which we have continued to monitor. For more than two years, Abigail has made Moose Lodge her home.

Now, as she experiences this new change in her mobility, our focus is on giving her the support she needs while determining whether there is more happening beneath the surface. A brace won't make Abigail younger. It won't reverse aging BUT It can help her stand, move around and continue living comfortably at the Lodge.
