Paddington is approximately 9–10 years old and one of our newer Moose Lodge residents. Since arriving in May 2026, he has already needed veterinary care for giardia, ongoing skin recovery, probiotics and regular ear care.

Now, Paddington has developed a more concerning issue with his hind legs that requires additional support and veterinary attention.

Medical needs can change quickly for a senior dog. Contributions made through Paddington's page help Moose Lodge cover both his routine care and new medical needs as they arise.

Help Paddington Get Back on His Feet 💛

Recently, Paddington began having trouble with his hind legs. His legs will periodically splay out from underneath him, making it difficult for him to get traction, stand and move around normally. Thanks to Debbie and Dave, he already has been seen by the veterinarian and is on medication, but he won't be able to retain mobility for much longer.

Right now, we need your help to start providing him with a properly sized rear-leg support brace to give his hind legs additional stability and help him stand and move around. But we also want to understand what is causing the change. Paddington has also developed a cough, giving us another reason to take a closer look at his health. Further veterinary care may include bloodwork, X-rays, scans or other diagnostic testing based on what his veterinarian recommends. The brace can provide Paddington with support now while we continue determining what additional care he may need.

Paddington's Story💛

Paddington came to Moose Lodge in May 2026 through our friends at Deep South Canine Rescue.

His original name was Chance, and his journey to Moose Lodge began when he was found as a skinny stray rummaging through garbage in a Kroger parking lot. He was in rough shape. His back was missing hair because of a flea-related skin infection, and he had benign moles throughout his body. But one thing was immediately obvious: he was incredibly sweet. A kind older woman took Chance into her home, giving him food, shelter and the company of many other four-legged friends. After she passed away in her home, however, it was discovered that it had also been a hoarding situation.

The Chattahoochee Humane Society stepped in. With the help of Rescue Coordinator Kristen Fryer, Chance received veterinary attention for his skin and was neutered. He was estimated to be about nine years old. Kristen eventually told Pam Dixon at Deep South Canine Rescue about Chance, and Pam knew of a senior sanctuary in Upstate New York that might be willing to take him.

We saw his photos and immediately said YES!

When Chance arrived, we renamed him Paddington because he reminded us of Paddington Bear: sweet, respectful, grateful, calm and so very, very loving. Since becoming part of Moose Lodge, Paddington has been treated for giardia and his skin has been healing slowly but nicely. He's on probiotics, gets those big ears cleaned regularly, and has settled comfortably into life at the Lodge.

He is also the only resident who sits politely and waits for his food dish. When we finally put it in front of him, he'll look up at us almost as though he's saying:

“Thank ya, ma'am.” 🥹

He's a good eater, a good sleeper, loves to play, and has quickly become a very loved member of the Moose Lodge family. Now we want to give those hind legs of his a little extra help.

A brace won't make Paddington younger, but it can help him stand, move around and continue enjoying the life he has found at Moose Lodge.
