Saying Goodbye to Our Sweet Ollie

At Moose Lodge Senior Pet Sanctuary, our mission is simple but powerful: to provide a comfortable, safe, and loving home for senior animals who have been surrendered through no fault of their own. It’s a role we cherish deeply, not just giving them a place to live, but making sure they are loved through every moment of their final chapters. And when the time comes, it’s also our responsibility to give them a peaceful, dignified passing.

Today, we said goodbye to one of our most beloved residents: Ollie.

If you've followed our journey, you’ve seen Ollie’s face many times. He was a natural in front of the camera, silly, photogenic, and full of personality. Ollie was one of our very first residents. When he came to us, we were told he was deaf, a little demented, suffering from terminal cancer, and incontinent. His owner, unable to care for him, chose not to put him down but left him in a shelter, where thankfully, the wonderful team at For Blake’s Sake on Staten Island found him and reached out to us.

Ollie wasn’t expected to live long. Yet, true to his spirit, he surprised everyone and stayed with us for three beautiful years.

Sadly, the time finally caught up with him. His health declined rapidly, and we knew it was time to let him go with love, dignity, and grace. On April 24, 2025, poetically, Ollie’s birthday, we helped him cross the Rainbow Bridge. We like to think it wasn’t just coincidence. It feels like a sign that his journey came full circle, filled with love to the very end.

We imagine Ollie now, free of pain, running around whole and happy again. If you see Moose and Squirrel up there, Ollie, they’ll show you around. And someday, we’ll meet again.

We will miss you, sweet boy. Thank you for all the laughs, the memories, and the love.
